The world is changing faster than ever before: the development of new technologies, the breakdown of the current model of free-market economy, globalization and the ubiquity of social media. All these phenomena cause rapid changes in business environment and require new management tools as well as a lot of flexibility and new skills, on the part of managers. In many countries, a traditional and over-theorized teaching model dominates management studies. Unfortunately, it is not aligned with the current environment and the encroaching challenges of the job market. There is very little practice and project work in the traditional teaching framework, which is based on statistical economic models. Moreover, insufficient appreciation of psychology and the role it plays in the practice of management makes for a painful confrontation, when graduates are faced with real challenges of the job market and it also leaves employers disappointed with the skills of potential employees. Therefore at SWPS University, we have developed an innovative and practical program of study.

Media and Communication Management MA

Our double degree Media and Communication Management program, offered in cooperation with Macromedia University in Germany, is designed to train brand and media managers of the future. During the first year, you will study at SWPS University in Wrocław, Poland, where you will gain indispensable practical and analytical competencies, such as insight, foresight and various research techniques. You will also learn how to develop brand, communication and management strategies. In your second year of studies, you will move to Macromedia University in Munich or Berlin, in Germany, where you will have an opportunity to complete real tasks and practical projects at renowned companies such as Siemens, Adobe or Sky.

Psychology

Psychology is a discipline whose goal is to understand and improve functioning of individuals, groups, and societies as a whole. Our undergraduate Psychology Program introduces students to fundamentals of psychology and teaches basic principles of other disciplines, such as humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. Some of the areas of study include: social, cognitive, developmental, economic and personality psychology. Furthermore, students learn statistics and research methodology and can choose a few elective modules aligned with their interests.

Sociology MA

Our unique sociology program is based on pairing students with academic supervisors (tutors). It focuses on social responsibility in the global digital era and is delivered primarily via lectures (including lectures by guest scholars from universities around the world), seminars, workshops and skill-labs. The program includes over twenty modules on research methods, techniques and tools, including emerging social research methods, as well as digital skills. Students work in small groups and are required to participate in empirical research projects, under the guidance of peer-mentors (doctoral students), at SWPS University’s research centers and labs. Study visits provide another opportunity for further development of practical skills.
