Program overview

Teaching is an immensely rewarding profession, but requires a lot of time and effort. Students can expect focused and practical assignments, engaging discussion and small group projects, and intensive field experiences in diverse schools and classrooms. During the final semester, students complete a 15 week student teaching experience under the guidance of a mentor teacher and a university supervisor.

An individual who has completed or will complete a high school degree or its equivalent and has fewer than 15 transferrable college credit hours. IELTS 6.5 or equivalent Students who do not have access to the TOEFL or IELTS may take the Duolingo English Test (DET) in order to be considered for admission to Roosevelt University.

Career opportunities

Typically, graduates are employed as middle school teachers serving students in grade 5 - 8 classrooms. Occasionally, graduates choose to work in elementary schools and high schools if they add on these endorsements to their Illinois teaching license.
