Program overview

In today’s rapidly changing business environment, analytical yet empathic leadership is a prerequisite for success. The Global Management programme equips students with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to navigate international markets. Based on the programme pillars Global Management -students improve their skills and know-how in the following areas:

  • International competence. Graduates are able to make effective business decisions and adjust their management style to fit international and diverse environments.
  • Business-savvy. Graduates have experience in applying academic knowledge to practical business challenges, developed through systematic experience and engagement with the corporate world.
  • Strong values. Graduates have a broad vision for responsible decision-making in business and leadership, informed by ethical reasoning, personal integrity, and respect for social diversity.
  • Ability to reflect and think critically. Graduates are open-minded problem-solving and agile decision-making, with an ability to develop and apply innovative solutions to complex business challenges.
  • Capability for holistic leadership. Graduates have a comprehensive understanding of personal responsibilities, accountability and the ethical and cultural frameworks in which leadership is applied.

  1. Language requirements - Proficiency in English is an eligibility requirement for the programme. Acceptable proof of proficiency: bachelor's or master's level degree completed entirely in English at an institution physically located in: USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand. Otherwise, it can be an institution in a CEMS  / Equis / AACSB accredited institution (e.g. Aalto). Alternatively, a student can take one of the following language tests (minimum score): IELTS (7.0 overall, and 5.5 in writing), TOEFL (iBT100, writing 22).
  2. GPA from the previous degree minimum - 3.50
  3. Previous studies - to be considered for admission the applicant must have completed at least 60 ECTS of business-related studies (corresponding to one year of full-time studies at university level). Applicants with a Bachelor's degree in a field other than Business must include transcripts in which the proposed business-related courses or modules composing the 60 ECTS are clearly highlighted.
  4. CV - the comprehensive CV evaluation takes into account relevant education, work experience, and extracurricular activities, as well as international orientation as demonstrated by e.g. work, studies, or extracurricular activities abroad, participation in various international or inter-cultural activities in home country, and knowledge of and interest in learning foreign languages.

Career opportunities

CEMS graduates are highly sought after by international companies: according to a 2019 graduate survey, 98 percent of CEMS graduates are employed within 3 months of graduation. Based on a 2018 alumni survey almost half of CEMS alumni are working outside their home country and have worked for a CEMS Corporate Partner.

Aalto University has well-established career services through which you can get employed in Finland and abroad. Aalto students tend to find good positions with ease upon their graduation. An active entrepreneurship community is also present at Aalto, which can help as a springboard for founding your company. Finally, if an academic career is of interest, the Master’s programme in Global Management is a great foundation for doctoral studies and post-doc positions.
