Program overview

This program has several prerequisites. Students are advised that each transcription course will require in excess of eight hours of work per week. These changes are being made to better prepare students for the workload later in the certificate and to help the student develop the highest level transcription skills that are required in the industry. A total of 14 courses are required to obtain this certificate.

O.S.S.D. or equivalent Students are required to have a typing speed of 30 net wpm. Students who are interested in increasing their net typing speed and accuracy can take CPT-1133 Keyboarding for Computers. Mature applicants must be at least 19 years of age by the start of classes, be out of secondary school for at least one year and usually do not have a high school diploma. Mature applicant testing for this program is available in the Counselling Department in the subjects of English and Math. The test(s) will demonstrate proficiency in required admission subjects. English Language Requirements: IELTS of 6.0 TOEFL iBT 69
