Program overview

Your module choices span centuries and continents, giving you the chance to study history and literature from around the world, and from the Dark Ages to the contemporary era. Your modules will dovetail, enabling you to explore topics from both a literary and a historical perspective. For example, you might study: colonial India alongside postcolonial Indian literature the history of Victorian Britain alongside the Victorian novel life in Anglo-Saxon England and the heroes and monsters of Anglo-Saxon poetry The degree will equip you with a broad range of skills, including close reading and literary analysis, and the ability to evaluate a wide range of historical evidence. You'll have the opportunity to use that expertise in your own personal research projects.
