Overview

The history of the university is rooted in 1898.  At that time it was called the Evening Institute and was aimed at young people arriving in Boston as part of immigration.  However, already at the beginning of the next century, the institution acquired a full-time department and began training in legal and financial disciplines.  Since 1922, the institute began to be called Northeastern University.
