You will have access to the Additive Manufacturing lab in the new Engineering Innovation Centre, housing some of the latest AM equipment. Learning will be largely project based, with hands-on use of equipment and software. The course will include relevant industry visits, guest speakers and industry related projects. You will work alongside our research active staff with the possibility of continuing on to PhD research. Students will be given the opportunity to build their own 3D printer (to keep) and develop new or enhanced Additive Manufacturing technologies.

Entry can be made to the course through holding at least a lower second class award of BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering or other related subjects. Students whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate competence in the language. The normal minimum standard required is IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
To enhance your work experience you will have an opportunity to undertake a professional placement as part your MSc. This will extend your study time by six to twelve months depending on the length of the placement. Alternatively, there are opportunities to choose an industry-based project. You are responsible for finding your own placement. We will support you in preparation for this with the Faculty Placement Team and UCLan Careers, who can help you plan and develop your CV and applications, and have practice interviews.
