Program overview

There is a substantial emphasis on programming, which we view as a fundamental skill. Students will use the Python language. and will be provided a broad introduction to other key areas of the subject, including computer systems, databases, and human-computer interaction. Students will study Java programming, object-oriented software engineering, data structures and algorithms, algorithmic foundations, computer networks, operating systems and web application development. If a student has exceptional grades it is possible to follow a faster route, which allows him/her to complete a standard BSc (Hons) degree in one year less than usual, by being exempted from most of the first-year computing science material. Students will also have the opportunity to apply to study abroad. There are currently two options available: the Erasmus+ Programme and the International Exchange Programme. The University of Glasgow has a total of 100 Undergraduate Excellence Scholarships available to new international students for 2020 entry. The scholarship is awarded as a tuition fee discount of £5,000 per year of study and is subject to satisfactory progress for consecutive years of study.
