Обзор программы

The Communication Program offers a solid foundation in communication theory and practice, including organizational communication, communication theory and courses in media studies, popular culture, television news and media ethics. The university’s mission statement declares that “Fairleigh Dickinson University is a center of academic excellence dedicated to the preparation of world citizens through global education.” In keeping with that goal, the Communication Program offers courses in intercultural communication and international news that site our program firmly within a global context. Professional internships are an integral part of the Communications Program. The Metro campus is just nine miles from Manhattan, and this proximity to the world’s media capital gives Fairleigh Dickinson University communication majors a competitive edge in obtaining top-flight internships at network and cable television stations, radio stations, and public relations and advertising agencies. But communications majors at Fairleigh Dickinson University don’t have to wait for an internship to gain hands-on experience in the media. Students staff our state-of-the art FM radio station, WFDU (89.1 FM), our award-winning student newspaper, The Equinox, and our television studio and production facilities. The Communication Major in the School of Art and Media Studies prepares today’s students for the challenges of tomorrow. Through our program students can select a focus in one of our four concentrations (convergent journalism, broadcasting, and TV and Digital Production and Editing) or select a more general degree by choosing from all areas.
