Cyber security is always in the spotlight, whether it's a story about data breaches or election hacking. Unfortunately, cybercrime isn't just limited to these areas cyber criminals pose a risk to everyone and every organisation. Governments and businesses, therefore, need qualified staff who have a broad range of skills and experience to tackle increasing levels of cybercrime. There is, however, a significant skills shortage in the cyber security field, meaning experts are in demand both in Australia and globally. This course unique in New South Wales brings together studies in risk, IT, finance, law, governance and policing, providing you with a multidisciplinary skill set that will enable you to lead more effective responses to security challenges. You'll also benefit from our close collaboration with Optus and other major companies in the Optus Macquarie University Cyber Security Hub.

Most postgraduate courses require a successfully completed Australian bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution and may also require a specific grade point average (GPA). Our admissions team will determine whether your qualification meets the requirements. Cyber Governance and Management specialisation: • Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent in a relevant field • GPA of 4.0 (out of 7.00) or overseas equivalent Cyber Security Analysis specialisation: • Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification (or recognised equivalent) in the social sciences, or humanities, or related field; or Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification (or recognised equivalent) in any field with relevant work experience • GPA of 4.0 (out of 7.00) or overseas equivalent Internetworking specialisation: • Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent in computing or engineering • GPA of 4.0 (out of 7.00) or overseas equivalent • Three years relevant work experience All applicants for undegraduate coursework studies at Macquarie University are required to provide evidence of proficiency in English.
