Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the semesters containing the most recent 20 graded university courses, however, since the number of qualified applicants can exceed the number of places available, fulfillment of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Full-time or part-time study is available to students. Four courses are required in the first year: HLSC 5100: Research Methods (Fall term); HLSC 5200: Philosophy of Inquiry (Fall term); HLSC 5300: Advanced Statistics (Spring term); HLSC 5400: Advanced Qualitative Analysis (Spring term). Statistics also has an additional three-hour lab. Students must maintain a minimum grade of 2.7 (B-) in all courses. For graduation, students must have a minimum cumulative program grade point average of 3.0 (B).
