You will study the major concepts and technologies of modern biology, including the biology of the cell, the structure of DNA, ecology of populations and communities, evolutionary biology and the origin of species, organisms, their classification and lifestyles. You will choose to focus on one of the following major study areas: Biochemistry Molecular Biology Cell Biology Immunology Comparative Physiology Terrestrial Ecology Marine Biology Evolutionary Biology Environmental Biology In addition, the degree offers flexibility, allowing you to choose electives from other areas of study at UOW that can be tailored to your interests. On completion, high performing students considering further study or a career in research should consider the Bachelor of Science (Honours) program. This one-year degree offers students a pathway to expand their knowledge of biological sciences and achieve their research aspirations.

Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia. In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science. You must be able to demonstrate skills in English to satisfy course entry requirements.
