You will emerge from the program with a clearer understanding of the field and your own career potential within it, and as a stronger candidate for entry into diploma/degree programs at Canadian colleges and universities. This intensive, performance-based program provides a comprehensive and integrated curriculum designed for the talented player who wants to solidify his or her knowledge of the fundamentals of western music and/or further his or her current performance skills. You will be challenged to develop and further your performance skills through the jazz-specific areas of improvisation, repertoire development and small group ensemble performance.

Admission selection is based on the following 4 requirements: 1. Academic To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses: Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent) Three Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses in addition to those listed above or Mature student status or College or university transfer status 2. English Language Proficiency All applicants whose first language is not English must meet Humber’s English Language Proficiency Policy. 3. International Credit Evaluation Canadian citizens or permanent residents with international education are required to provide a WES or ICAS evaluation. 4. Online Audition All applicants are required to upload an audition video that clearly demonstrates their current performance level on their major instrument. Audition requirements are detailed below. While auditions are assessed on a balance of the technical and song material presented, overall musicality and general ability are also considered as important elements in the selection process.
