According to Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, the need for pharmacy technicians “has been strong, due to rising needs associated with population aging, increases in government funding for health care and a high number of retirements of existing workers.” Pharmacy technicians perform many tasks including filling and final release of prescriptions, medication reconciliation, compounding medications and managing day-to-day operations. Pursue opportunities in various settings such as community/retail and hospital pharmacies, long-term care facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, third-party insurance companies, computer software companies and government agencies.
