Program overview

Pharmaceutical sciences combines knowledge about the human body, chemistry and the action of drugs in the body and enables the pharmaceutical industry to deliver more reliable, accessible and effective treatments. In addition to an understanding of pharmacology and physiology you will learn about the development of new drugs, the clinical use of medications, and the legal and regulatory aspects of medicine development within the pharmaceutical industry. You’ll gain an understanding of biochemistry, biostatistics, human biology and cell biology, and an in-depth knowledge of therapeutics, pharmacology and toxicology, physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology to prepare you for a career in the pharmaceutical industry. A highlight of this program is that it provides a direct pathway into RMIT’s industry-based Pharmaceutical Sciences Honours year (BH121) for eligible students.

Completion of secondary school comparable to Australian Year 12 or equivalent academic achievement. IELTS: minimum score of 6.5, with no subscore less than 6.0 or TOEFL: a minimum score of 580 or Internet-based (IBT) TOEFL: a score of 79 (with minimum score of 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing) or Pearson Test of English (Academic): an overall score of 58 with no score less than 58
