The programme provides education and training for the practice of architecture, taught in a way that makes explicit an understanding of and sensitivity to, historical, contextual and cultural influences on the practice of design in a global, national, and local context. The structure of the BArch in Architecture is fully modularised. Design studio forms the core element of the programme, and makes up over 50% of the credits for each of the five years, integrated with a range of subjects throughout the programme. The students create an academic portfolio of design work by the end of the programme, which incorporates the other thematic areas of the syllabus, namely: Architectural Context & Theory, Technology and Environment, Representation, and Professional Studies.
