Computer Science spans theory and practice, and is the art and science behind telling computers and computational systems what they need to do. As a computer scientist, you'll solve open-ended problems in the world every day ranging from how well applications perform on mobile devices to maintaining strict security protocols. At Clarkson, you will get hands on experience developing software and software systems, including design, theory, development and application. Through your coursework, access to laboratories and research with faculty, we cover computer networks and operating systems, cryptography and security, algorithms and formal formal aspects of computation, virtual reality and human computer interaction, and software verification among other areas. We are home to Clarkson's infamous COSI Lab -- a living (sometimes literally all night programming sessions) -learning environment for open-source projects.

All applicants for admission who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents (green card holders) need to secure a student visa, are required to show proof of financial support as a condition of being issued an official letter of acceptance and I-20 form.
