Mathematics & Statistics

Hamilton , Canada

Mathematics and Statistics study patterns underlying diverse phenomena such as the weather, human and animal populations, stock markets, the form of a molecule, or the structure of the space and the time. Using mathematics we discover subtle and sometimes unexpected features of these phenomena, as well develop ways to predict their behaviour which is an extremely important component of our understanding of the world and the space that surrounds us.

In the Department of Mechanical Engineering, our specialization in bio-fluid mechanics includes blood flow in cardiovascular health, and microfluidics in the development of “organ-on-chip” and “lab-on-chip” devices for drug discovery, medical / environmental diagnosis and drug delivery.

Political Science

McMaster University

Hamilton , Canada

Who gets what, when and how? Who rules? Where does the power lie in Canada? What drives globalization? Can it be stopped? In political science, we consider these and other questions in looking at the future of Canada and other countries around the world. We also look at issues such as justice, freedom and democracy and the relationship between individuals and governments. At the international level, students examine the cause of conflicts, the conditions for peace and the impact of regionalization and globalization on individuals and communities.

Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour (PNB)

McMaster University

Hamilton , Canada

The study of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour (PNB) allows us to understand the interaction between the brain and behaviour. At McMaster, our Department is a leader in the field. Our innovative programs focus on interdisciplinary research to raise the next generation of behavioural and psychological scientists. As a science and a practice, the programs give students a strong foundation to work in applied or scientific psychology. In the lab, experimental psychologists conduct research to understand why people think, feel, and behave the way do. In the field, counsellors, practitioners, and psychologists help individuals deal with issues related to human behaviour and mental health.
