More than just a teaching degree, this is also a visual arts course where the subjects cover: two-dimensional media areas such as drawing, painting, printmaking and photography three- and four-dimensional areas such as sculpture and object design. Students also gain substantial professional practical experience during the course, such as preparing and curating exhibitions or preparing and developing a commissioned artistic project. The inclusion of units in theology and religious education will support accreditation to teach religious education.

Applicants require the equivalent of Australian Year 12 certificate and an IELTS minimum of 7.0 in reading and writing and a minimum of 7.5 in listening and speaking. Pre-requisites may also apply for entry into some major and minor sequences.
The course is designed for those intending to become teachers in secondary schools including Catholic, government and independent settings. Graduates may teach in institutes of technical and further education (TAFE), vocational education, community education centres, private colleges and special education settings.
