In recent years, techniques for economic analysis, modeling and forecasting have advanced substantially. Economic analysis is now widely applied in areas such as international trade, telecommunication markets, competition law, banking and financial systems, regulation, and business strategies. The objectives of the programme are: to equip students with advanced knowledge in modern economics for understanding, analyzing, and solving real-world problems; to develop students' conceptual and analytical capabilities in analyzing economic policies and making competent business decisions; and to impart in-depth knowledge and skills in theories and empirical methods that facilitate applied research in economics.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. An undergraduate degree in economics or related areas is not a pre-requisite. Students with a solid quantitative background and commitment to academic study are encouraged to apply. Applicants whose bachelor's degree is obtained from an institution where the medium of instruction is not English should also fulfill the minimum English proficiency requirement. Selection will be based on the following factors: Academic performance in previous studies; Knowledge and interest in economics; Quantitative skills; and Commitment to academic study.
