Students study 8 core courses. Core courses: 1. Mathematics 1A; 2. Mathematics 1B; 3. Engineering Communication EAL; 4. Introduction to Programming for Engineers. Students will also choose four courses from the following elective courses: 1. Engineering Mechanics – Statics; 2. Engineering Mechanics – Dynamics; 3. Materials 1; 4. Design Graphics and Communication; 5. Analogue Electronics; 6. Digital Electronics; 7. Object Orientated Programming.

For all countries: Pre-requisite Subjects for Diploma of Engineering: Year 12 Mathematics (including Specialist Mathematics or equivalent) and Physics (or one science subject depending on the University program requirements. Pre-requisite subject for Diploma of Computing & IT: Year 12 Maths. Students who have failed pre requisite subjects will be required to undertake: Foundation Studies program (Engineering stream); Stage 1 Diploma program with 50% jump condition (Diploma of Computing & IT stream). Notice: each country has extra specific requirements.

Students can progress onto year 2 in Bachelor degree programs at The University of Adelaide or the University of South Australia. Entry into the 2nd year at The University of Adelaide: Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Electrical and Electronic); Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical). Entry into the 1st year (with credit exemptions) at The University of Adelaide: Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Architectural and Structural); Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Chemical); Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil); Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Environmental); Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mining); Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Petroleum) - without majors.
