Overview

MICA offers various undergraduate degree, graduate degrees and certificates including B.F.A.M.A.M.A.T.M.B.A.M.F.A.M.P.SSome of the degree programs are partially online or fully online.The school has accreditation from Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) since 1967, and National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) since 1948.

In the Fall 2017 term, there were 433 part-time faculty and 178 full-time faculty, with an 8 to 1 student-to-faculty ratio.

In Fall 2017, the total student enrollment was 2,128, with 1,824 undergraduate students and 379 graduate students hailing from across the US and foreign countries.The student body in Fall 2017 was 75% female and 25% male.MICA has an acceptance rate of 62% in 2017.

86% of B.F.A. graduates who take jobs immediately after graduation are working in art related fields; 23% of MICA's B.F.A. graduates pursue graduate study immediately after graduation.

MICA's campus is a mixture of buildings from different periods of Baltimore's development.

Entry requirements

1. International applicants should make realistic financial plans for proposed study in the United States. Certification of funds available to support each year of study at MICA will be required.

2. Applicants must submit a portfolio of 12-20 pieces of artwork. 

3. Choose one of the writing prompts listed on the Common Application and write an essay (250-word minimum).

4.The recommendations of teachers, college counselors, or other professionals who can comment on your art and academic experiences are important to your application. At least one letter of recommendation is required for your application.

5.TOEFL Test: A minimum overall band score of 75 on the IBT Test of English Language as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required. IELTS test: A minimum score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required.Academic Transcripts:  Official transcripts that demonstrate at least two full years of academic success at a high school or college/university in which English is the language of instruction is required.

6. Scholastic Achievement Test (SAT) and/or American College Test (ACT) results are required for all first-time freshmen. The ACT Writing Test is recommended, but not required.

MICA offers a number of need-based, merit-based, competitive, and private scholarship options. It is better to start early in your scholarship research to leave time for gathering the needed application materials and to make financial considerations for your broader college experience.
