Program overview

During the course, you will learn through a combination of lectures, field trips, practical workshops, online debates and guest lectures. You'll engage with the tourism and events industry through an optional co-ordinated visit programme which includes a range of visitor attractions, hotels and events across the UK and overseas. You’ll learn how to plan, manage and run arts, cultural, sporting, entertainment, business and trade events, exhibitions and conferences. A highlight of the course is our optional overseas residential study tour to a destination such as Barcelona or Iceland, which takes place in Year 2. Uni has relationships with a wide range of leading events organisations, which will help you to find valuable work experience. There is also the option of completing a placement year in industry before you start your third year. In your third year, you’ll get to plan, develop and manage a live event, following your engagement with the events industry throughout your course. Past events have included a successful combination of arts, music and cultural events. The experience that you'll gain on this course will equip you with the skills to thrive in the growing and dynamic event industry. There is also the option to undertake a Foundation Year before progressing onto the 3 year programme of study. This is designed to encourage non-standard entrants who may not meet the entry requirements to access the study of Events Management. The Foundation Year addresses not only the foundations of events management and business studies but also enables you to develop and enhance the skills needed to succeed in higher education. Following successful completion of the Foundation Year, students then progress onto the next 3 levels of study.
