Program overview

This program will deepen your knowledge in a chosen area of specialisation and provide you with the practical training needed for a rewarding career.Develop core professional competencies, including skills in counselling, behaviour change and psychological assessment. You'll also understand the ethical issues and professional standards relevant to the practice of psychology. Apply your knowledge with 1000 hours of supervised placements and develop your skills in a variety of real-life organisations. This includes counselling services, private practices, community clinics and hospitals.

Requirements

An approved 4-year bachelor degree in psychology (I or IIA honours) or equivalent 4-year APAC-accredited program. Applicants must be eligible for provisional or if applicable, full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. IELTS overall 7; reading 7; writing 7; speaking 7; listening 7.

Career opportunities

Counselling Psychology – Help individuals, families and groups in areas related to personal wellbeing, interpersonal relationships, work, recreation and health in both acute and chronic life crises. Health Psychology – Contribute to health promotion campaigns within the government and NGOs, work with clients in hospital settings, or in private practice to assist clients who may have chronic pain, chronic disease or lifestyle-related health problems. Sport and Exercise Psychology – Work as a sport development officer, in private practice, or in sports academies (such as the Australian Institute of Sport) as a psychologist for weight management or treating chronic illness with exercise.
