Program overview

With the BMS(Hons), you'll get two rounds of practical work experience built into the programme. This gives you twice as many opportunities to test your skills in the real world by delivering projects for real organisations; based either in New Zealand or overseas if you wish. In first year you’ll get a grounding in business fundamentals, from accounting, economics and finance through to digital business, marketing, strategy and supply chain management. This allows you to discover which career pathways you’re most passionate about. Then in second year you'll specialise in up to two major subjects, take papers at a more advanced level, and start to see the bigger picture from a general management perspective.

Requirements

Exams:

If you have gained University Entrance or its equivalent, admission to the first year of the BMS(Hons) is guaranteed. Students must formally apply to be re-admitted into the third year of the BMS(Hons). This includes writing a personal statement that sets out your leadership/community involvement and your future career aspirations. Applicants for the third year of the BMS(Hons) need to have achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 6 (B+) or better in their first two years (240 points) of study. Selection will also take into account your leadership potential and community citizenship. Students who are not re-admitted to the BMS(Hons), but who meet the entry criteria for the BBus, can be transferred into the Bachelor of Business (BBus) instead.
