Program overview

Program encourage graduate students in the Department to become actively engaged as scholars. Its graduate students host regular Papers in Progress Sessions as a forum to share their work and receive feedback from their peers. In the last three years, graduate students have also presented papers at professional and graduate conferences, including the national conference for the American Academy of Religion, regional conferences for the American Academy of Religion and the Association for Asian Studies, and graduate conferences at the University of Hawai‘i, Columbia University, and Harvard University. Graduate students have also held the honor of achieving published papers in professional, peer-reviewed journals.

Career opportunities

Many graduates have entered professional school (medical, law, or business), while others have gone directly into a career in business, teaching, or foreign service. Still others pursue an academic career and enter M.A. or Ph.D. programs in religion, philosophy, anthropology, area studies, history, and literature.
