Program overview
The programme has been titled "transcultural" to reflect the international nature of both the programme faculty and expected student population. While the new curriculum continues to provide students with extensive traditional counsellor training, the international composition of the programme will also provide them with a wider exchange of cultural viewpoints and experiences surrounding contemporary counselling theory and practice.
Students will:
1. Have a wide range of counselling skills, which they make use of in individual and group counselling, within different settings and cultural contexts
2. Be able to successfully apply counselling skills in helping situations whilst applying sound ethical and professional judgments by fully respecting client autonomy and working within approved ethical codes and standards.
3. Make appropriate choices by applying counselling, psychological and cross-cultural principles in counselling situations
4. Have the basic necessary skills to work professionally as counsellors and to further their learning.
