Overview
American
College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine is a post baccalaureate academic
institution dedicated to educating and conferring degrees upon graduating
individuals having equipped them for successful careers as healthcare
practitioners based on the theories, principles, and clinical applications of
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
ACAOM
offers several programs accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools Commission on Colleges:
- Doctor of
Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine;
- Transitional
Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine;
- Master of
Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine;
- Master of Integrative Wellness Management;
- Master of
Integrative Healthcare Leadership.
Entry requirements
ACAOM is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant international students. Additional requirements for international students:
Submit proof of financial responsibility, either in the form of a recent bank statement or affidavit of support showing a guaranteed support of one year’s cost of attendance, and sponsor’s recent bank statement.
Demonstration
of English Proficiency is required to receive a school issued F-1 I-20. This
can be demonstrated in one of the following ways:
- The student
must have completed a two-year (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) undergraduate
or graduate-level, English-based education in an institution: accredited by an
agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education, or in the United Kingdom,
Australia, Canada (except Quebec), New Zealand, or Ireland. In all cases,
English must have been both the language of instruction and the language of the
curriculum used;
- Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL® iBT) - Acceptable scores: TOEFL iBT total score – 61 with minimum speaking score – 20 and minimum listening score – 17;
- International
English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Format - Acceptable scores:
IELTS overall band score 6 with minimum speaking score – 6.5 and minimum
listening score – 6.
