Program overview

You will explore child development from diverse theoretical and applied perspectives and get an introduction to the biology of development through the study of genetics and developmental cognitive neuroscience. The degree combines Birkbeck’s strengths in biological, social and applied developmental research methods to provide you with an integrated understanding of child development. You will have the opportunity to interact with world-class researchers in developmental science and attend research seminars organised by the Department and a number of other local research centres and institutes. To be considered for direct entry to a Master's degree at Birkbeck, you will normally be required to have successfully completed a Bakalavr/Specialist Diploma from a recognised university with a minimum final grade of 3.5 for programmes requiring a UK 2:2
