The Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering, offers comprehensive programs in building and civil engineering. The aim of these programs is to advance the body of technical knowledge in the planning and design of built facilities, their construction processes, their operation and maintenance, and their interaction with, and impact on, the surrounding environment.
When you study Computation Arts, you become part of a visionary digital program that explores the intersection of design, art and technology. Break new ground with wearable computing or intelligent textiles. Create pieces or installations that straddle both the physical and virtual world using a computer screen, networked computers, audio and video.
The Computer Applications option gives students the flexibility to combine a traditional computer science degree with a non-traditional field. Students may complete a Major in Computation Arts or in Mathematics and Statistics, or they may declare a minor in any area outside the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science.
The Master of Applied Computer Science (MApCompSc) degree program provides an opportunity for students to broaden their theoretical knowledge of computer science while heightening understanding of practical applications.
When you study Computer Systems, you’ll learn to design operating and control systems for space vehicles, or implement complex computer security systems. You’ll become an expert in hardware and software integration. You’ll understand the language of interfaces and the input and output devices that connect the computer to the world. As a computer scientist, this expertise will give you a key role in the development of hardware and software systems.
This graduate program is designed to meet these critical needs by preparing and training highly qualified engineers in the design and implementation of construction processes to deal with problems posed by the ever-decreasing resources threatening the well-being of today’s society.
The two-year Master of Design program provides an opportunity for students to broaden their theoretical knowledge of design and focus on innovative research in the areas of visual communication, the built environment, interaction design and design studies. The MDes program offers a stimulating and creative environment in which students are encouraged to explore conceptual and theoretical issues through a project-based or academic research.
Invigorate your passion for journalism by exploring the digital ramifications of a rapidly evolving segment of the media landscape. Our one-of-a kind Master’s program pushes the boundaries of research into the future of journalism with a unique focus on digital innovation, or new approaches to journalism practice. Through seminars and lab sessions, you’ll develop critical thinking skills to enhance your understanding of how digital storytelling intersects with, and redefines traditional mediums such as print, television and radio.
Drama and theatre-based approaches to healing empower individuals to articulate their feelings in a less traditional and embodied way. Various methods make use of symbols and metaphors so clients who are unable to express themselves verbally can find new ways to navigate difficult issues and subjects
