Program overview

Students will work in groups, deliver presentations, challenge and discuss ideas with their tutors, and are encouraged to be a proactive independent learner. Students will also engage with our dedicated virtual learning environment using tools such as blogs and discussion boards to exchange ideas.

Minimum 2:2 Hons or equivalent in relevant subject In addition to this, part-time students will also need relevant professional experience (this would be normal practice as a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered biomedical scientist working in the NHS) Experienced practitioners are encouraged to apply English language requirements: If English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent with no elements below 6.0, is essential when you start the course

    - All students are required to make a pre-payment of £4,000 towards their course fee when accepting an unconditional offer from DMU.

    Prepare the following documents:

    • A copy of the student`s qualifications
    • A copy of the student`s English language certificate
    • A personal statement of at least 500 words explaining why the student wants to study chosen course at DMU and any additional information that will support application
    • A copy of the student`s passport
    • One reference for undergraduate study, or two references for postgraduate study

    Career opportunities

    This course will enhance career prospects for graduates of Biomedical Science or other bioscience disciplines, and will enable HCPC registered biomedical scientists to increase their opportunities for progression within pathology services.
