Exploring primarily contemporary or 19th and 20th century history, the course focuses on important issues such as war and conflict, immigration, racism, nationalism and empire. As students move through the three years, they will study more specific topics and the subject matter will become increasingly complex. Taught by experts in their own field, students will expand and develop a wide range of skills and learn how to absorb, understand and communicate complex information.

Typical entry requirements 112 points from at least 2 A levels and including grade C in History or BTEC Extended Diploma DMM and including grade C in A level History or International Baccalaureate: 26+ Points GCSEs - Five GCSEs grades A* - C (9-4) including English Language or Literature at grade C/4 or above. Access - Pass Access with 30 level 3 credits at Merit in History and GCSE English (Language or Literature) at grade C/4 or above. We also accept the BTEC First Diploma plus two GCSEs including English at grade C/4 or above (if required as part of our standard requirement). Interview required: No International students If English is not your first language an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each band, or equivalent when you start the course is essential.
History undergraduate study prepares students for a wide variety of different occupations and professions. Many of our graduates have forged successful careers after studying with us. For example, we have graduates working for a major law firm in the City of London whose clients include Arsenal FC and the London Olympic Legacy group, an archivist in the National Archives, a reporter for the Daily Express, a university History lecturer and a teacher for Her Majesty’s Prison Service.
