Program overview
The Chemistry program in Becton College of Fairleigh Dickinson University is an American Chemical Society approved program. The department provides students with a breadth of courses and degree options not normally found in a small liberal arts college. Exceptional experiences are tailored for students that are interested in chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry. The department offers students the opportunity to take advanced courses in the major areas of chemistry as well as courses in medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical analysis.
Graduate students have the choice of a M.S. degree in chemistry with a broad experience in advanced topics, such as computational, biochemistry, and physical organic chemistry or a concentration in pharmaceutical chemistry, targeted with special courses relevant to employment in local pharmaceutical companies. Students can complete their graduate degrees either full-time in about 2 years or part-time in the evenings at a pace more appropriate for their lives.
Small class sizes and personal interactions with faculty in lectures and laboratory courses coupled with a variety of advanced courses afford an atmosphere for learning that is uncommon.
