Overview

The Ivey Business School offers a number of programs and degrees:Honors Business Administration, Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Managemen, PhD, Executive MBA program, Pre-HBA Undergraduate Courses, Collaborative program: MFE or Master in Financial Economics is a collaborative program between Ivey Business School, Western Economics and Math/Stat department. 

Ivey operates on four campuses:

Richard Ivey Building on the main campus of the University of Western Ontario.

Spencer Leadership Centre (formally known as Spencer Hall) in London, Ontario

Tangerine Leadership Centre located in downtown Toronto at the Exchange Tower

Cheng Yu Tung Management Institute is located in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre


Entry requirements

Complete years 1 & 2 (or more) at Western or any other university. Pursue any course of study at any university and ensure that you:

Maintain a full course load over two years of university (equivalent of 10.0 Western courses).

Achieve a minimum average of 70% in 10.0 university courses completed including Business 2257.

Complete a secondary school mathematics course for students bound for university or an equivalent.

Complete Western's Business 2257 course or equivalent. View a list of accepted equivalents at Business 2257 Equivalents.

Achieve a minimum grade of 70% in Business 2257 or equivalent.

A competitive Ivey HBA application includes:

Demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities, community involvement, and work experience

80%+ average on 10.0 full courses (or the equivalent) at any university (if at another university, these courses must be acceptable to transfer to Western). The minimum average to transfer to Western is 70%. The average needed for admission to Ivey HBA may be much higher.

Once applicants have met these requirements (typically in their second year of university), they apply during their second year. Students may apply after three years of university as well (unless they are applying from a commerce program). 

International applicants who are admitted to Ivey will also be required to submit the following documents upon, or prior to their arrival:

One copy of their study permit/permanent residence

One official transcript and one translated transcript

International applicants will be required to submit a verified transcript via WES to Western’s admissions office.

In addition to meeting the minimum admissions criteria for all candidates, international applicants are also required to demonstrate a strong level of English proficiency which can be done by either post-secondary education at an English speaking institution, or significant work experience in an English speaking environment. Alternatively, candidates must successfully complete an English language proficiency test. Ivey accepts:

TOEFL (minimum internet-based score of 100)

IELTS General OR Academic (minimum score of 7)

MELAB (minimum score of 85)

PTE (minimum score of 70)

CAEL (minimum overall score of 60 required with no part less than 60)

Scholarship & funding

All students who apply through their Ivey HBA application will be considered for almost a million dollars in Ivey Scholarships and Awards.Please be sure to complete the Financial Aid section on the online Ivey HBA application.  Applicants who do not complete the award section of their HBA application will not be considered for an admission award.
