Program overview
As a professional in Community Planning and Development, you will work with communities to shape cities, towns and rural areas to create better places to live. You will address the contemporary issues that arise in a mobile world, such as facilitating demographic change, guiding economies in transition, regulating landuse transformation, enhancing placemaking, and supporting sustainable and resilient communities to manage change and conflict in our urban form and social fabric across metropolitan, regional and rural areas. This course aims to help you refine your critical analysis, research and communication skills in an applied practice setting so you can develop effective and creative social, spatial and environmental policy responses to the key issues we face locally, regionally and globally.
The Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate in Community Planning and Development are specifically designed to provide education and training from sub-professional to post-professional level. The courses are designed to provide a pathway for gaining appropriate education and training and qualifications particularly for:
public and private-sector employees working in planning offices who do not hold formal qualifications in planning
public and private-sector employees who hold qualifications in closely allied fields who seek to change their career paths or enhance their career paths.
