Students will specialise in one of three fields of research: Sources of Inequalities (including Cultural and Political Sociology, and the Sociology of Institutions). Comparative and International Politics (including Political Economy, Conflict and Security Studies, and Democratic Representation Studies). Cultures in the Making (Anthropology of Health, Care and the Body, State and Migration Studies, and Cultural and Political Anthropology). ​During the programme, students will choose between three research methods tracks: empirical-analytical, interpretative, and mixed.

The number of available places is limited to 40 students per year. If more qualified students apply than there are places available, candidates with the most convincing academic standing are selected. This is based on: Previous study results The relevance of their previous studies Previous knowledge of social sciences research methodology Motivation Job experience Previously written academic work As the Master's programme will be highly demanding and fully taught in English, a high level of English language proficiency is expected of all applicants. All students must be able to read textbooks, understand lectures, take part in classroom discussions and give presentations in English.
