Overview

Home of the two-year degree, The University of Buckingham is ranked 1st for Teaching Excellence in the UK (according to The Times Higher Education metrics rankings, 2017). Close to London and Oxford, the university offers courses in Medicine, Psychology, Law, Business, Computing, Education and Humanities.
The University was established via a Royal Charter and places students at the heart of the learning experience. We keep class sizes small to ensure every student can thrive here. Buckingham is ranked 1st in England for Student Satisfaction (The Complete University Guide).

The University of Buckingham, recognising the importance of external confirmation of the standards and quality of our awards, joined the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in 2001. Since then, the University has completed successful reviews in 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2017 and additional annual monitoring exercises in 2016 and 2017.

During the most recent Higher Education Review (October 2017), the QAA confirmed that the University meets UK expectations in all four areas: academic standards, the quality of students’ learning opportunities, public information and the enhancement of students’ learning opportunities.

In addition to this, the QAA commended the following areas of good practice: the comprehensive and sustained approach to personalised support for learning, including the systematic operation of small-sized tutorial groups across all aspects of provision; the embedding of innovative pathways into higher education provided by the Foundation Department, which enables a range of students to complete degree- level study; and the coherent and systematic development of the Positive University initiative that promotes and supports the welfare of students and staff through a wide range of inter-related activities.
