The Master of Arts (MA) degree consists of taught coursework followed by an independent thesis in a wide variety of Arts subjects. It provides the opportunity to make a contribution to knowledge in the field and critically examine current practices, while also demonstrating understanding of the principles of research. The Master of Arts degree consists of two parts: Part I: coursework Part II: thesis Part II (thesis-only) can be started at the beginning of any month. (a) The time limit for Part I is: 1 year for a full-time student (b) The time limit for Part II is: 2 years for a full-time student Part II of the degree must be submitted by such date as may be prescribed by the Dean of Arts (Academic) unless an exemption is granted.

Students must have qualified for a bachelor's degree and satisfied the prerequisites for the major subject concerned. Prerequisites vary between departments, but normally good grades in 300-level courses in the subject is required. English language requirements: IELTS Academic: an average score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking TOEFL iBT: total minimum score of 90, minimum score of 19 in reading, writing and listening. TOEFL PBT: with a minimum score of 575 and TWE with a minimum score of 4.5 Pearson Test of English (Academic): with an overall score of 58 and no PTE communicative skills score below 50
