Program overview

The Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies is a research-intensive faculty, with over $5 million in external research funding being held currently by various faculty members. Our well equipped research laboratories allow our researchers to investigate a number of topics, including: falls in the elderly, psycho physiological correlates of mild brain trauma, nutrition and exercise interventions on osteoporosis, childhood and obesity, the effects of early introduction of body checking in hockey, proprioceptive influences in motor control, volunteerism in sport, ethical decision-making by health professionals, and aboriginal health issues, to name just a few. Our Faculty is home to world-class researchers with international reputations who are working at the cutting edge in kinesiology and health studies. The home for the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies is the Centre for Kinesiology, Health, and Sport, which includes: multiple research and teaching laboratories, several "smart" classrooms, a total of 5 gymnasia, modern and fully equipped fitness and lifestyle center with 200 m indoor running track, individual team rooms for all of our Cougar and Ram interuniversity teams, and an athlete weight room. The University of Regina is a dynamic, progressive, and growing institution and the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies is a major part of that growth.
