Program overview

Paramedics have a highly responsible role using their skills in a range of emergency and non-emergency situations. You'll be one of the first healthcare professionals to arrive at the scene and we'll ensure you're ready to help others in their moment of need. BSc Paramedic Science degree will be delivered by experts from across the health professions, giving you the necessary skills and competencies to deliver out-of-hospital care in a range of health settings. You'll learn with other health care professionals, reflecting the reality of working as a paramedic as part of a wider team. You will undertake a range of placements in health and social care settings and with the Scottish Ambulance Service. Paramedic placement opportunities will be across Forth Valley, Fife and Tayside.

School leavers are required to complete a Foundation Year for entry to the University. SQA Advanced Highers: BBBB or equivalents. English Language Requirements: IELTS 7.0 with minimum 6.5 in writing and 7.0 in reading, speaking and listening; Pearson Test of English 67 with a minimum of 60 in writing and 67 in reading, speaking and listening; IBT TOEFL 100 with no subtest lower than 20.

Career opportunities

This BSc Paramedic Science degree will enable you to work as a paramedic or in a range of other settings to contribute to the future of health and social care provision in Scotland. Following registration with the HCPC, individual paramedics will also be able to take on new roles including prescribing and advanced practice.
