Overview
In 2009 the University adopted a new organisational structure. The term "Schools of Studies" was retained, but each was headed by a "Head of School" rather than the traditional "Dean". The schools as of 2009 are listed below.
The term "department" has been retained in some cases, where a school contains separate disciplines.
1)School of Engineering and Informatics (two separate schools before 2011)
2)School of Life Sciences (includes Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry and Biochemistry and houses the Centre for Genome Damage and Stability)
3)School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS) (includes Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy)
4)School of Psychology
5)School of Education and Social Work (ESW)
6)School of Global Studies (includes Anthropology, Geography, International Development and International Relations, as well as interdisciplinary programmes in Development Studies)
7)School of Law, Politics and Sociology (LPS)
8)School of English (including Drama)
9)School of History, Art History and Philosophy (HAHP)
10)School of Media, Film and Music (MFM)
11)University of Sussex Business School
Entry requirements
At Sussex, our usual entry requirements are: at least an upper second-class (2:1) or lower second-class (2:2) undergraduate honours degree depending on the course you are applying for. We may also consider professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing when making offers.
In Sussex University there are three main levels of English, depending on the course applied for: higher, standard and lower.
IELTS:
Higher -7.0 overall, including at least 6.5 in each component.
Standard – 6.5 overall, including at least 6.0 in each component .
Lower - 6.0 overall, including at least 6.0 in each component.
TOEFL (iBT):
Higher -95 overall, including at least 22 in Listening, 23 in Reading, 23 in Speaking, 24 in Writing
Standard – 88 overall, including at least 20 in Listening, 19 in Reading, 21 in Speaking, 23 in Writing
Lower - 80 overall, including at least 19 in Listening, 19 in Reading, 21 in Speaking, 21 in Writing
Scholarship & funding
Sussex undergraduate scholarship, which can include up to £2,000 of funding in your first year. scholarships are for UK, EU and international students. And also Masters degree funding for UK and international students.
