Overview
The University’s values of Compassion, Individuals Matter and Spirituality shape how they do this and why – they believe academic freedom leads to big ideas which in turn lead to social justice and creativity for a better world. The story of the University of Winchester shows just how much it has been woven into the history of the City. It all started with a mission the Church of England had in the 1830s to create an institution that would train teachers to teach in poor communities. In 2015 staff, students and alumni celebrated university’s history and achievements as part of the 175 year anniversary.
