Entry requirements

Undergraduate:

Certificate of Secondary Complete General Education, English Language Requirements, Program specific requirements

Graduate:

You must have graduated from a recognized university holding an honours degree or equivalent. Some programs consider applicants with a three-year undergraduate degree and relevant work experience.

Undergraduate degrees not designated as honours degrees may be acceptable as the equivalent of an undergraduate honours degree if they contain a minimum of 120 credits (typically, a four-year program with full time enrolment) including the completion of a minimum of 6 credits at the fourth-year level at an accredited postsecondary institution.

If you completed your undergraduate or master’s studies outside Canada, you may need to complete additional courses to qualify for admission to a graduate program at York.

A minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of “B” or equivalent is required. Your GPA is assessed over the last two years (full-time equivalent) of study. (Some graduate programs require a minimum GPA of “B+” or equivalent.) If you have complete Master's studies, your GPA will be calculated based on your highest level of education. The minimum GPA is a critical consideration in determining admissibility.

Scholarship & funding

There is  York Entrance Scholarships & Awards for Canadian high school applicants.

Many high school applicants are admitted and offered entrance scholarships based on mid-year or "in-progress" results when their admission average is at or above 80%. All Entrance Scholarship amounts and eligibility are confirmed/finalized based on final grades.

95%+ (42-45 IB diploma points) — $4,000 (renewable for 3 additional years)
90-94.9% (36-41 IB diploma points) — $2,500
85-89.9% (33-35 IB diploma points) — $1,500
80-84.9% (30-32 IB diploma points) — $1,000

Scholarships for international applicants. International Entrance Scholarship of Distinction: Three (3) of these scholarships are awarded per year, valued at $35,000/year. It is renewable for an additional three years of full-time undergraduate study if the student maintains high academic standing each year, bringing it to a total of $140,000 over four years.
