The course aims to: enhance applied skills and technical and theoretical knowledge to meet current market demands; expand interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate professionally and successfully in a team with colleagues; provide students with the knowledge, skills and methodology to independently carry out idea development, design and implementation of an animated short film; provide students with knowledge of the principles of intellectual property creation.

Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution. However the Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature. In addition, applicants must submit an application form and portfolio, including examples of their creative work, for one or more of the positions in the creative team.
