The study route New York Jazz is based on the connection between the Jazz department of the Prince Claus Conservatoire and the New York Jazz community. Therefore all the students life and study in New York during their third semester. During the studies in The Netherlands renowned musicians from New York visit on a weekly basis to teach students. In the third semester students proceed their study in New York where 50% of their private lessons are with our own NY musicians and 50% of these lessons are with New York musicians that students choose in consultation with us.

1. First round of selection is based on a YouTube recording, study plan, motivation letter and a curriculum vitae submitted by the candidate. 2. Second round is a live (or skype) audition and an interview about the study plan. It lasts about 45 minutes. During the live audition candidates must show their level and understanding of jazz. Candidates also have the possibility to show other relevant skills, for example, their own arrangements or compositions. After each selection round you will be informed about the outcome. If your study plan is found to be not sufficient the first time you will be given the opportunity to improve your plan once. You need to do this within 4 days after you have been contacted by the committee. Digital recording requirements • YouTube recording, without breaks and of representative quality and not older than 6 months. • 3 pieces of your choice, in different styles and tempos. Original music is fine, but include at least one standard. • Level needs to meet the requirements of a Bachelor of Music final exam. Motivation Letter English language skills In order to be admitted to the master program, a demonstrable English language skill level IELTS 6 (with no sub-score below 6) or equivalent is required.
