Program overview
The health sector in Australia is growing rapidly. By 2025, there will be an extra 798,000 healthcare jobs in Australia*. There is a need for strategic communicators who understand the health sector in the workforce. Health communicators work to translate and communicate the many different issues and ideas that arise from health policy, research, clinical practice and public health to ensure that government, business and the wider community understand it.
Learning through case studies and real industry projects, you will analyse and critique health communication campaigns in Australia and internationally. You will have the opportunity to undertake industry internships in your second semester.
Health communication is a diverse professional area with employment opportunities available across various industries in Australia and internationally. Health communicators are the vital link between policy makers, health providers, clinicians, researchers and public health institutions working at all levels of health intervention, from grass roots community all the way to the international arena.
