Program overview
A distinctive feature of the BSc (Hons) Surveying course is our common first year, which allows you the flexibility to experience construction modules alongside both building and quantity surveying based modules, to then decide which discipline you wish to pursue throughout the remainder of your studies.
On the building surveying route, you will gain an in-depth understanding of how to manage, maintain and adapt buildings to ensure the continued use of our built environment assets.
You will develop an in-depth understanding of how buildings function by developing detailed knowledge of construction technology and building pathology.
Ranked 1st in Scotland for Student Satisfaction in Building - Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019, published September 2018
You will learn in relatively small class sizes in our dedicated Surveying and Construction Management Studio. Teaching is through a blend of directed learning, tutorials and live situations where you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in practice.
Our learning is ‘hands on’ and you will work seamlessly between drawings, computer packages and note taking, both individually and in groups.
In addition to classroom based lectures and workshops, you will be able to take part in organised visits to construction sites, undertake field studies and building surveys, hear from industry professionals in guest lectures and attend lunch time CPD sessions.
