In this course you will combine the fields of biology, pharmacology and medicine, as well as aspects of anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, immunology, cell and molecular biology, physiology and neuroscience. A biomedical science degree will teach you about the human body, its structure and its functions. This includes understanding how diseases manifest and how drug strategies are used to treat these diseases. You will learn the practical skills needed to explore the underlying molecular basis of acute and chronic illnesses, understand how to apply biomedical research and learn how to convey scientific and biomedical science information. Course electives allow you to design your course to specialise in a number of areas, providing the opportunity to broaden your career prospects.

Entry into a Bachelor Degree program at La Trobe University requires completion of Australian Year 12 (or international equivalent) with a certain grade, and meeting subject pre-requisites (if applicable). Please check your course for details. Subject prerequisites VCE Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL. IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0.
