Why Math at UNB? The size of UNB Saint John provides students with the opportunity to benefit from the small class sizes while still having a range of interesting courses from which to choose. As an upper year undergraduate student there are opportunities to be a teaching assistant marking assignments, to be a tutor in the Flora Beckett Math and Science Help Centre helping first year students, or to work on a summer research project with a faculty member. Certificate in Mathematics for Education: Become a mathematics specialist or expand your mathematics knowledge with this certificate designed specifically for current and future teachers. Available to all interested students, it requires the completion of 10 term courses in mathematics including the Education course Teaching Elementary School Mathematics.

Course requirements: Senior English Literature, Senior Math, including Pre-Calculus, 1 other academic math, Senior Chemistry, 1 of Senior Physics, Senior Biology or Senior Geology (Senior Physics is required for entry into Health Sciences), 1 elective from group 1 or 2, Minimum admission average: 75% (The average marks in Pre-Calculus Math, Chemistry and the best other Science course must be at least 75%.). International students require the following English language proficiency minimum scores for direct entry into most academic programs: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 85, CAEL 60, or Pearson Vue Test 59.
