The program emphasizes auditing, financial reporting, and tax research strategies and techniques combined with effective business writing and professional presentation skills. Students work closely with their academic advisor to design a course of study that best suits their future career objectives and prior coursework. Most classes are scheduled during the day, generally in 3 hour blocks of time. All accounting classes are taught by full-time faculty members, many of whom have been recognized for excellence in teaching. The program incorporates guest speakers and career building skills to enhance the connection between the classroom and future careers.

To be considered by the Graduate Studies Committee, applicants to the Master of Accountancy must meet the following minimum requirements: 4-year Bachelor’s degree; 2.75 (4.0 scale) overall GPA; 500 score on the GMAT (or the GRE equivalent); International students only: TOEFL of 90 or IELTS of 7.0. NOTE: UVM and St. Michael’s Accounting or Finance students with a GPA>3.2 are exempt from the GMAT. Average GPA and GMAT scores for applicants admitted for the past three years are 3.3 and 616 respectively. Our average TOEFL is 94.
